Robert “Bob” Schlanger, graduated from the University of Rochester with high honors in 1968, where Bob was also admitted into Phi Beta Kappa. Following college, Bob attended NYU Law School graduating in 1971 and passing the New York Bar. Following graduation, Bob sought a little adventure, and was recruited by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Alaska, where Bob served as an assistant A.G. under John Havelock. Among the matters, that Bob worked on were the state’s no fault insurance law, environmental regulation of the trans Alaskan oil pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, and the Native Lands Claim settlements. Bob also passed and became a member of the Alaskan Bar.
Following his Alaskan adventure, Bob returned to New York and served as an assistant district attorney under Frank S. Hogan, Esq. and Robert M. Morgenthau. Bob investigated, prosecuted and tried a variety of cases involving robbery, rape, burglary and drug possession and distribution. This involved supervising various investigations including organized crime wire taps.
Bob was recruited by the Commissioner Frank J. Rogers, of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, to serve as the head of the Bureau of Prosecutor Coordinators which trained and educated prosecutors and defense attorneys throughout the State of New York. Subsequently, Bob became General Counsel to the Division, which identifies and stores all fingerprinting and criminal history records for the State of New York and became involved with the regulation of issues concerning the dissemination, privacy and accuracy of these records,. The Division also became responsible for the distribution of Federal Law Enforcement Administrative Funds throughout the state.
Bob left public service in 1982, and opened his own civil litigation firm in Fairview, New Jersey in 1982, after having passed the New Jersey bar. Bob have been representing private clients in personal injury and workers compensation litigation at the same location for the last 30 years. His practice has ranged from car crashes to complex insurance coverage issues. Bob believes that every client deserves and gets his full devotion to his cause.
